Dr. house를 보다가 배운 표현이다.

Need you lift tomorrow? because your car is still in car shop.

차 태워줄까? 라는 뜻. 

 

이 lift 라는게 재밌어서 검색하닥 보니까 lift you up 과 raise you up이 약간 다른 뉘앙스로 쓰인다고 한다.

이 표현은 you raise me up 이라는 노래 가사로 매우 유명한 문구이다.

비슷한 의미로 나온다.

 

둘의 차이는?!

오늘도 chat GPT에게 물어봤고, 

lift someone up은 좀 더 물리적인 의미로 쓰이고

raise someone up은 좀 더 감정적인 의미로의 cheer up 느낌이 더 강하다고 한다!

처음에 네*버 검색에서는 lift up의 느낌이 exalt의 느낌이 더 강하다고 봤는데 chat GPT의 답은 사뭇 달라서 의아하다.

이런 것은 좀 더 살아보면서 알아야할거같지만, 이정도의 느낌차이는 native들도 다 알아 들으시지 않을까나...
