#5. cheat on

닥터 하우스 시즌8 5화를 보다보니, cheat on 이라는 phrase verbs가 들려온다. 

다른 얘기지만 이렇게 영어랑 한국어 섞어 쓰는거 보고 친구가 전모씨 같다고 하는데... 어쩔 수 없다 ㅋㅋ 

영어로 모든 말을 할 수 없기 떄문에 섞어쓸수밖에..

아무튼 "cheat on" 은 보통 He cheated on me. 이런식으로 쓰인다.

 A man was admitted to the hospital due to a heart attack. 

The dortors were eager to understand the circumstances leading up to the heart attack.

Prior to the heart attack, he had been unfaithful to his wife, and he finally told the doctors the truth.

이 남자가 의사들에게 밝힌 이후로 아내에게 confession하지 않고는 살지 못하겠다고 하는데, doctor Chase는 "But she can."라고 거짓을 말하기를 추천한다.  그러나 결국 고백을 하게되고, 아픈 와중에 하는 고백에 매몰차게 굴 수 없었던 아내는 용서를 해준다.

점점 증상이 악화될수록 계속해서 자신의 죄를 confession하게 되는데, 결국 아내는그 잘못들을 견디지 못하고 병원을 떠난다.

이 고백들로 인해 의사들은 환자의 뇌의 communication area 근처의  aneurism으로 인해 거짓을 만들어내고 그것을 고백하는 새로운 증상을 발견하게 되고 치료에 성공한다.

After his wife return to him, she confronted him with the question, "Did you really cheat on me? "

And he responsed with a lie, saying "No..."  Finally, he chose to lie for her sake.

In Korea, we refer to these kind of lies as 하얀거짓말. 

Sometimes, lies may exist for another person, sometimes the confession is very selfish behavior.

이런 바람과 관련된 용어로 affair도 있다. fair은 공정한, 적당한 의 뜻도 있고, 희고 아름다운이라는 뜻도 있다. 겨울왕국 처음 나오는 노래에서는 ice가 fair하다 라는 구절이 나오는데 이런 이유이다. 그리고 job fair할 때는 박람회로도 쓰인다.

공정하다의 부정이니까 불륜이나 바름을 뜻하게 되는 것 같다.
